He made me chuckle.

I bought this skewer a while ago, to help check when the cakes are ready...

And I found him wondering around the house yesterday like this:
with it pinned it his shirt.

You make me laugh Mr Owl.

Sunday 26 February 2012

A bee is never as busy as it seems; it's just that it can't buzz any slower.

I've been busy being busy. Random, crazy, enjoyably busy.

This is me, making a nice mess in the kitchen.

I am not a neat cook

Picking up a big bargain box of vintage fabric and sheet, for the caravan decor, all for a lovely $3.
Thank you lovely people at the garage sale

And I picked up this vintage umbrealla, in fantastic condition, for a bargain price....it is also for Lola
Lola is spoilt. And we will have a bonfire soon with that massive pile of dead tree.
And I was given these lovely beets from a friends garden
still figuring out what i should do with them. A chutney?
We managed to squeeze in some kite flying

And I hung some green (of course) glass fishing floats.
Not sure if I'm going to catch any fish from up there.

And I have been busy trying to eliminate the squeaking from Mr Walter
I can't cross my fingers and I need to cross more than strings to help me be a violinist. Enjoying it very much.

I hope everybody has a lovely week.

Painting the town (and my hair) and caravan update.

I am such a messy painter. I've even considered video taping myself, whilst painting, to understand the mess I unknowingly concoct with when I've finished...... and it's not in a Jackson Pollock awesome way either. ...N.B I am not to be trusted with paint.

I was given these bar stools by my sister in law. I do not have a before photo but they kind of looked like this:

I know that people love wood, and I do too, but sometimes I just have to paint......so I did this:

I still need to add some cushions to the seat........

AND....i have a sneak peak from the caravan reno....

Now don't panic about the colour....I promise you it wont be depressing. I have come into some fantastic accessories that will cutify it up. I am very excited!

Whilst it has been a crazy two weeks, having to work around mundane issues has been motivating.

Hoping you all have an awesome week!

How to say sorry in 7 different languages

Anteeksi (Finnish)
Maaf! (Indonesian)
Waan ka xumahay (Somali)
Jammer! (Afrikaans) this automatically made me want to say "stop, it's Jammer time.
Oprostite! (Bosnian)
Andke andeks! (Estonian)
Sintoo! (Galician) sounds like a sneeze

Anyway, I've been absent of late for far too many reasons... but such boring reasons!

I've been busily busying myself with the reading of this book:

purchased for me by my friend Kelly....

It has so many good ideas, I've actually changed the choice of paint colour. I have painted a coat of paint, but it was too insipid and blah and didn't attract any of my easily distracted attention. So. Back to the drawing board but its going along in leaps now.

My little boy started school this week. It has been such a great experience for him:

And Signore Smiley Face has been growing:

I'm for a week of accomplishment....lets see if I can pull it out of the rabbit hole. Or the hat. Or any other dark curious place.

P.S new jewellery design coming soon.

Baking like a domestic goddess.

Whilst you may be conjuring up images like this:

....... it was a little more like this yesterday afternoon:

BUT i did have a lot of fun:)

I have a couple of friends who have been trying to eliminate preservatives and additives and general harmful household items from their diets and homes and have been quite inspired so I've been dabbling in making my own laundry powder inspired by this post, but still trying to find the happy medium between using natural and less harmful products combined with being happy with the quality of the powder. In regards to food the only real way to do this, seems to be baking everything from scratch. Could I do it??

BEHOLD! Saturday afternoon!

The Green Owl went a little insane with whisking, cracking eggs, and  spilling 750grams of plain flour on the floor.

We made:
Chocolate chip cookies. 17 out of 19 have already gone. recipe here

Mixed berries Muesli Bars.

Apple and Cinnamon Cupcakes. Recipe here.

Miss 9 year old owl wanted to make apple crumble. My puppy is soo cute
Very crumbly apple crumble....but pretty good Miss Owl!

Massaging the bread dough is very important for the final outcome

Bread rolls. Massaging the dough worked!

I am planning to do a lot more of this in the near future. Not only did I have fun, I'm making a healthier change for me and my family.......

and I finished the night with this:

Hiccup  ;P

Its almost crochet season! Hook me up!

Well I'm not quite sure if there is a crochet season. But I'll pretend there is....I messaged my friend, a fellow crocheter, the other day and told her I had the twitching feeling to pick up a hook. She said that she did too and was making this hat:

She is very accomplished. I like her, and her (dare I say it)  hooking skills.

There are a few patterns that I have my eye on:

ummmm, Maybe not!

All of the above patterns can be found on etsy:)

The last big thing I crocheted with this:

It already has a few holes and needs repairs.....the owlettes make tents with it.
Last week saw a lot of work go into filling a shop order, and playing with the children to beat school holiday boredom. I am ready to add some colour to the caravan- and agonising over colours. Back soon with a caravan update.
