Challenge number 3256: sewing an evening dress

Another new thing to do for an upcoming party I, together with my sisters and aunt, am organising.

The most important part of it all- what am I going to wear?

I have been looking any every nook and cranny, for the perfect dress. I mulled over different combinations:

1960's red velvet with lace. Ebay

1960s's 'twiggy' dress Ebay

A little too drab, maybe, for a formal evening.....(even with bling)

So I went to Spotlight and picked out this pattern:

vintage vogue
With this fabric:

heavy cotton fabric

All because I own these shoes:

mind the tiny house behind

Its funny how shoes manage to dictate an outfit.

Challenge accepted.

Crocheting a Paisley

Well, I got this really cool pattern. I thought it was easy, but I was wrong!

I'm trying to use some of my crocheting in my jewellery, and this was a little experiment of mine. My lovely mother in law was a lifesaver, and this was the end result:

Umbilical cords still attached
Since then, I have been doing other designs of paisley's. Its been a lot of fun making new things. I'm so excited for my next market:)

Sunny side of the street

At the moment, both sides of the street are wet and dark- but I'm sure there is a sunny side somewhere:)

Well it's been a while.

I can confirm, that I am alive, well, and kicking- in a non violent way.

A market has been booked with some lovely friends. New designs have been sketched, and the process has begun again. Regrouping after a huge, dark mental blank has been like learning to ride a bike again. But I'm starting to pedal, slowly but surely.

It's no secret I like colour. And I lot of my things have been lacking the bright colour that I so love. So I am working on some bright things, with bright birds and bright leaves. Bright-eo! The show will go on.

In the meantime, I have purchased some lovely things from op shops and ebay. I've also crochet, tried to paint, been inspired, received gifts and actually gone to the movies twice in two months. Woah Nelly!

Vintage Enamelware from the op shop at an amazing price
Purchasing 4 rolls of this Danish wallpaper leftover from the 70's
It's been a long couple of months, but I think I've self analysed and nutted it out. Very excited about the next few months.

I hope everybody has been able to shake of the rain and enjoy the little bit of autumn we have left:)

Tuesday Op shop goodies

So much success at the op shop today.....I almost had to leave baby owl on the side of the road so I could fill the car with some more goodies.

My children will need a full time osteopath when they're older: the amount of times they have had to press  and contort against the car door- just so I can fit an armchair in- is a bit ridiculous.

To be fair, the ceramic saucepan was purchased for me by a lovely friend. But i did pick up a crochet scarf, a vintage fedora, 3 leather hair pins, a new pair of cute shoes -in my size- bonus (when you op shop, and you love something, you will settle for any size and make the necessary adjustments.) I also got a piece of linen fabric (2m long), with a really cool print on it. 2 ceramic mugs, a bit of bling and a smile from the cute elderly cashier, for under $12.....not bad:)
